MICHAEL CONNERS

ST. THOMAS ACADEMY, SR., SWIMMING

Conners helped the Cadets score a Class 1A meet record 417 points en route to the state championship last weekend at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. A closer look at Conners:

Best movie I've seen in the last year? "Lone Survivor."

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Passionate, funny, chill.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? You have to learn to work ahead in your school work when you know you have a big game or meet coming up.

At my first varsity practice, I felt … out of place.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? My most memorable moment as a swimmer was out touching Faribault in the 200-yard freestyle relay to win state this year. My most memorable moment as a football player was winning the Classic Suburban Conference championship against South St. Paul in a come-from-behind victory.

Sum up your career as a swimmer as St. Thomas Academy? I could not have asked for a better career swimming as a cadet, and to cap it off with a third straight state championship is a dream come true. I have been blessed with incredible coaches, teammates and fans throughout my four years swimming at St. Thomas Academy and I could not be prouder to call myself a Cadet.

Describe the feelings you went through during your final meet as a high school swimmer in the state meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center? After working hard all season long it was a great feeling to go out the way we did in my last meet as a high school swimmer. It was the end to a really special season, and to do it with such a great group of guys just made it that much sweeter.
