Patrick Trudgeon, Roseville’s community development manager since 2007, has been named the city’s new manager after an unanimous vote of the City Council.
Trudgeon had been serving as interim city manager since last May, when Bill Malinen resigned, in part over a conflict in leadership style with the City Council. Malinen is now city administrator in Branson, Mo.
“Pat proved himself worthy of permanent appointment during his time as interim city manager, being responsive to the City Council and to the community,” said Roseville Mayor Dan Roe. “We look forward to building on that foundation going forward.”
While serving as interim city manager, Trudgeon guided the city through its 2014 budget planning, improved communication between the City Council and city administration, and helped better position the overall staff structure at the city for the future, Roe said.
Trudgeon, 47, was community development director in Ramsey for seven years before taking a similar position in Roseville. He has also worked as the planning and development director for North Branch, was a City Council member in Beloit, Wis., and worked as a lobbyist in Wisconsin.
