Here are the pitching lineups for Thursday's intrasquad game, which will take place at 9 a.m. central time at the Lee County Sports Complex. (Team names courtesy of the Star Tribune).
Team A; Kevin Correia, Vance Worley, Trevor May, Kris Johnson, Logan Darnell and Yohan Pino.
Team B: Phil Hughes, Kyle Gibson, Anthony Swarzak, Brooks Raley, Lester Oliveros and Deolis Guerra.
Correia was scratched from his bullpen session on Monday because of a slightly sore neck but is ready to pitch on Thursday.
Lefthander Scott Diamond will start Saturday's game against Boston - the Hammond Stadium opener for the Twins. So it looks like Ricky Nolasco should start the Grapefruit League season opener on Friday at Boston.
Josmil Pinto (back) did some drills on Tuesday. ``He's moving a little more farther forward.'' Second baseman Brian Dozier (back) participated in all drills. First baseman/outfielder Chris Parmelee (right wrist) is good to go. ``I have no restrictions other than Pinto for Thursday's game,'' Gardenhire said.
Gardenhire was asked about giving Joe Mauer the green light on the basepaths. ``If I give it to him, he’s not afraid to try,’’ he said. ``He’ll run, and he’ll pick out his pitch. I think being out from behind the plate will help his legs and his body.’’
A COUPLE OF LINKS
The Twins have landed another Australian prospect, an outfielder named Jack Barrie. The Twins continue to mine the land down under for prospects but really haven't unearthed a stud yet (Grant Balfour might be the closest). But there is high hopes for pitcher named Lewis Thorpe, who I would rank in the top 15 prospects in the organization if I went 15 deep. Remember the name, Lewis Thorpe.
And this Miguel Sano-related story is disappointing. Someone who is aware of the situation said the dogs weren't the real reason why Sano and his agent were having trouble getting into the condo, something that shouldn't be happening in 2014.
