The river wild

Pour yourself a Guinness and take a ride down “Ireland’s Wild River,” a new “Nature” documentary about the Shannon, the nation’s longest river. Wildlife cameraman Colin Stafford-Johnson serves as our tour guide, examining all four seasons, largely by canoe. 7 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2

Bar talk

The creator of “The Hangover” isn’t done partying. Scott Moore’s new sitcom, “Mixology,” eavesdrops on 10 characters, each looking for love (and shots) over the course of a single evening in one of the biggest clubs on the planet. The premise may sound watered down, but it actually works, thanks to poppy dialogue and a cast of fresh faces who will quickly feel like old friends. 8:30 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5

The spy next door

Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are back for more spy games in “The Americans,” a series that makes the Cold War look like a sexy adventure. The show picks up with Russell’s character returning from her injury and engaging in a mission that’s a lot more harrowing than Felicity’s dramatic haircut. 9 p.m., FX
