ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation says motorists can expect major delays on a stretch of westbound Interstate 90 in southeastern Minnesota.
Crews are working to remove snow on westbound I-90 between Stewartville and Dexter and make the lanes passable Friday afternoon.
MnDOT is using heavy equipment and snow blowers to open the westbound lanes of I-90. Westbound traffic will be stopped for 20-30 minutes at a time while crews move forward on the 13-mile stretch.
Traffic will then be sent through. The traffic that arrives next will be stopped while more snow is removed.
Eastbound I-90 is open and drivable.
Many highways in southeastern Minnesota are limited to a single lane because of drifting snow. Other highways are impassable.
