BAUDETTE, Minn. — Authorities are charging 12 people with 80 violations stemming from an enforcement operation on Lake of the Woods in January.
Col. Ken Soring of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says investigators focused on guided fishing operations. He says summonses have been mailed to the 12 defendants, and the counts are all misdemeanors.
The charges include 23 counts of possessing overlimits of walleyes, 12 of packing fish without a packer's license, and 10 of transporting walleyes without the required skin patch.
Soring says other violations documented during the investigation include five counts of guiding bear hunters without a guide license, three of failing to register bear bait stations and three of failing to display identification signs on bear bait.
The charges are being filed in Lake of the Woods County.
