Both directions of Hwy. 212 have been shut down between Dell Road and Hwy. 101 as authorities deal with a hostage situation that started with a car chase.

Police deployed stop sticks to stop the eastbound fleeing motorist, who stopped between Dell Road and Hwy. 101. All eastbound lanes were blocked and traffic jammed back to Hwy. 101.

Initial scanner reports indicate that at least two shots were fired and that there was a hostage situation in progress.
