Event honors student killed in crash

Two student organizations at Lakeville North High School are honoring Alyssa Ettl, who was killed in a car crash in December, by sponsoring a book drive in her name. The school's DECA Chapter and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Association are partnering to collect books through Wednesday, Feb. 12. The books, which will be collected in the lobbies of all Lakeville schools, will be given to Andersen United Community School in Minneapolis.

As vice president of community outreach with DECA, Ettl had begun planning the book drive before she died.

The book drive will conclude with an event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 12 at Lakeville North High School at 19600 Ipava Av., Lakeville. The event, which is open to the public, will feature live entertainment, food and a raffle.
