Skol! On Saturday, February 8th, Surly is going to release Asator Viking IPA to celebrate a highly regarded metal show featuring Amon Amarth, Skeletonwitch, and Enslaved at Mill City Nights in Minneapolis. This big dark brew was fermented on oak and is made with peated malt.

Head brewer at Surly Todd Haug had this to say about this limited release beer. "The Surly production team is fueled by metal, so what better way to honor three of our favorite bands who have braved the winter to perform for Minnesota."

The name stems from a song by Amon Amarth and as you will see below, the artwork invokes Ragnarok, The Twighlight of the Norse Gods and it embodies the spirit of everything Surly.

If the artwork doesn't inspire you then this quote from Haug will. "Asator - Surly Viking IPA is a beer fit for battle, fermented on oak with a ruddy brown color. The ale was brewed with peated, brown and crystal malts to create a shield wall of malt flavors, only to be hacked apart by a swinging sword of hops!"

The beer will make its debut at the show on Saturday and a limited amount will be available at the taproom on Wednesday, February 12th. Poster and Ticket giveaways will be happening throughout the week on social media and in the taproom.

You may just want to grab a helmet for this one….
