Out of the family

There have been too many reality series that treat the Amish as novelty characters, right up there with the cast of “Jersey Shore.” Thank goodness for “American Experience,” which treats the religious community with respect, while still exposing the harsh treatment given to those who leave the flock in “The Amish: Shunned.” 8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2

The final cut

Stillwater’s Rachel Frederickson has a chance of being crowned “The Biggest Loser,” which, in the world of reality-competition series is a good thing since the title comes with a check for $250,000 and a lifetime supply of Sweet’N Low. (Read more about her on E1.) 8 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11

Farther down the line

Here’s a classic trivia question: Which singer has performed the most times on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno”? Answer: Lyle Lovett, who makes one last stop before Leno hands over the reins to Jimmy Fallon. The country-music theme continues with Blake Shelton on Wednesday and Garth Brooks on Thursday, Leno’s last night. 10:35 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11
