SAN JOSE, Calif. — The five victims of a small plane crash in Idaho have been mourned in a funeral held in California.
The San Jose Mercury News reports (http://bit.ly/1j0txFb ) the family members were remembered for their Mormon faith and dedication at Saturday's service in San Jose.
They were flying from Oregon to Montana when the aircraft vanished Dec. 1 in the mountains of central Idaho. Bad weather hindered the search for the wreckage for days before the brother of the pilot — Silicon Valley executive Dale Smith — found the snow-covered plane.
Smith's widow, Janis, told mourners the efforts of thousands of people to help find her family "brought out the best in all of us."
The private search involved many volunteers analyzing satellite images of the terrain to find the crash site.
