Police seek Roseville, Woodbury mail thieves
- January 24, 2014 - 8:43 PM
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding thieves who are believed to have stolen mail from several residential mailboxes in Roseville and Woodbury.
According to a Roseville police crime alert, two men who appear to be 18 to 22 years old were pictured in surveillance footage from a recent theft. One was driving what appeared to be a red Toyota RAV4 sport-utility vehicle. The other sat in the back seat and collected mail.
A photo of the vehicle, captured by a Roseville resident’s security camera, matches a photo of a vehicle reportedly used in similar thefts in Woodbury.
Roseville police are encouraging residents to report any suspicious vehicles stopping at mailboxes or driving by them at slow speeds. Residents also should watch for junk mail scattered along the street and mailboxes that are left open.
Police also are advising residents not to send outgoing mail from their mailboxes — especially sensitive mail, which can be handed directly to a mail carrier or put in a secured mailbox.
Anyone with information about the case should contact the Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at www.crimestoppersmn.org.
