Wolves-Philadelphia game preview
- January 5, 2014 - 10:58 PM
6 P.M. at PHILADELPHIA • WELLS FARGO CENTER • FSN, 830-AM
Preview: The Wolves’ loss Saturday to Oklahoma City marked the sixth time in the past five weeks they have reached .500 only to lose. And now they go on the road to play a Philadelphia team that has heated up. After a stretch in which they lost 13 of 15 games, the 76ers have won four in a row — all on the road — against the Lakers, Denver, Sacramento and, Saturday night, at Portland. This is the same Sixers team that, despite being in the midst of a losing streak, built a 19-point first half lead Dec. 11 at Target Center before the Wolves rallied for a victory.
Players to watch: Wolves F Kevin Love has averaged 31.2 points in his past 11 games. C Nikola Pekovic has averaged 24.3 points and 10.6 rebounds in his past eight. ... The Wolves on Sunday officially assigned rookie Shabazz Muhammad to their D-League affiliate in Iowa. ... Sixers F Thaddeus Young is coming off a 30-point performance against Portland, his third game with 30-plus points in his past six. Young has scored at least 17 points in each of his past seven games, averaging 26.4 points in that span.
Numbers: The Sixers are 11-11 when rookie guard Michael Carter-Williams plays; he missed their game at Minnesota in December. Each of the Sixers’ past four home victories have come in overtime. The Wolves have won four consecutive games vs. Philadelphia.
Injuries: For the Wolves, F Luc Mbah a Moute (groin) is questionable. F Chase Budinger (knee) and C Ronny Turiaf (elbow) appear ready to return. It would not be a surprise if one or both of them played Monday. 76ers F Arnett Moultrie (ankle) and F/C Nerlens Noel (knee) are out.
