MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says he wants lawmakers to complete the bulk of their work for the spring session in January and February.

The Legislature has reserved session days through April 3. But Vos said Thursday he wants to meet just three days in January, between three and five in February and at most one day in March.

Vos says he believes the Assembly can pass its priorities during that time, and he does not want to follow the typical practice of cramming a lot of bills in at the end of the session.

Vos says he expects the Assembly to pass bills targeting heroin addiction, tax cuts, the Common Core standards and school accountability.

Both the Senate and Assembly are scheduled to return to work on Jan. 14.
