DFL Rep. John Benson, of Minnetonka, will announce Wednesday morning that he will not run for re-election next year.
According to an advance copy of a news release about his decision, he said: "I have viewed these past eight years in our citizen's legislature as an opportunity for me to help improve Minnesota's quality of life and then to return to private life."
He is the fifth House member -- and the third DFLer -- to decide not to run for another term in 2014 when all House members will be on the ballot.
