Ron Coomer will leave Minnesota to take a job in the Chicago Cubs radio booth, according to a report from Chicago media columnist Robert Feder.

Coomer, who has worked for Fox Sports North and KTWN radio, will work with Pat Hughes, who worked with Dick Bremer on Twins pay-per-view telecasts in 1983. The 47-year-old Coomer played for the Cubs in 2001 after six seasons with the Twins.

With the Twins, he was part of the FSN pre-game and post-game shows and sometimes filled in for Bert Blyleven during games. He also was a co-host on KTWN, the radio station owned by the Pohlad family that began broadcasting Twins games this year.

Coomer, who grew up near Chicago, has a two-year deal with WGN Radio, according to Feder.
