If you love the Madden football video game enterprise and have some free time, a local event might be worth your attention today.

The Best Buy store in Richfield is hosting one of eight regional ULTIMATE GAMERS SHOWDOWN events, which is basically a huge Madden NFL 25 competition celebrating the launch of new PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

The drill, per a news release and information gleaned from the good folks at Best Buy HQ:

* Registration for store tournament events will be on a first-come first-served basis, and stores will only accept registrations in person on the day of each event. In this case, registration is between 12 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. this afternoon at the Best Buy in Richfield. The event itself is from 5-10 p.m.

*Each store tournament features 64 people in single player elimination, bracket-style format.

* The winner in each store will receive a $1,000 Best Buy gift card and a trip for two to Dallas to compete Monday in the finals.

But it's not just anywhere in Dallas. You would be competing at the Cowboys' palatial new stadium ... and playing on the massive, record-breaking HD screen.

As a special bonus, Vikings RB Toby Gerhart is making an appearance from 6:30-8 p.m. and handing out autograph cards.
