A new gun club in Osseo has been delayed from opening this year.
Developer Chris Williamson had hoped to open the Osseo Gun Club before hunting season started this fall after his proposal won approval from the city, but the opening has been delayed until spring.
The gun club proposal pit dozens of Twin Cities gun owners with school leaders concerned about student safety at a high school two blocks away, but the gun club ended up getting approval from the northwestern suburb, hoping to attract new visitors and business from a growing group of gun owners in the region.
The $3.3 million Osseo Gun Club is being built on an empty parking lot that used to be a senior center. It’s the largest vacant parcel in Osseo.
The 18,000-square-foot building will house a 20-lane indoor gun range, retail gun shop, gunsmithing space and gun safety classrooms. There is also the option for the gun club to add a second-floor 20-lane range in the future.
