MILWAUKEE — Two Milwaukee police officers convicted of failing to intervene when other officers conducted illegal body-cavity searches have each been fined $300.

Jeffrey Dollhopf and Brian Kozelek pleaded no contest to being party to disorderly conduct. A judge on Thursday sentenced Dollhopf to 100 hours of community service and Kozelek to 20 hours.

Both men have agreed to resign from the police department.

Kozelek's attorney, Patrick Brennan, says his client is relieved the case is over but sad about his resignation. A message left with Dollhopf's attorney was not immediately returned.

Two other former officers were also convicted in the case. Male victims accused Michael Vagnini of probing their rectal and genital areas under the pretense of searching for drugs, and the other three officers were accused of failing to stop him.
