JERUSALEM — Israel says it is holding meetings with European officials over a final agreement on Iran's nuclear program.

Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz met the British nuclear negotiator Wednesday in Jerusalem. They discussed the final accord and the concerns Israel has with the interim agreement. Steinitz met the French negotiator Tuesday.

Israel vehemently opposes the deal struck between world powers and Iran this week, saying it does not go far enough to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. It hopes for a more stringent final agreement, expected to be reached in six months.

Iran agreed to curb most of its nuclear activities in exchange for some relief from economic sanctions, while leaving much of its nuclear infrastructure intact.

Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
