An armed man robbed a credit union late Friday morning in Minnetonka, and authorities used dogs on the ground and a chopper overhead in their hunt for the suspect.

The holdup of Wings Financial Credit Union, near Cedar Lake Road and Hopkins Crossroad, occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m., police said.

Minnetonka police, who were joined by a State Patrol helicopter and K-9s from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and Plymouth Police Department, searched for the suspect in the immediate area but called off the effort shortly after noon, police added.

The man brandished a handgun and demanded money from tellers, according to police.

He left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anyone with information about the holdup is asked to contact police at 952-939-8500 or the Minneapolis FBI at 763-569-8000.
