TOWN OF GENESEE, Wis. — Authorities were focusing their search for a missing 15-year-old Wisconsin girl Thursday on the 2-mile route from her house to her school.

Kathryn Stalbaum of the Town of Genesee has not been seen since 6 a.m. Tuesday. She missed her bus to Kettle Moraine High School and sent a text to a friend saying she would be riding her bike to school. She never showed up for class.

Sheriff's Inspector Eric Severson says the girl's disappearance is "out of character for her," the Milwakuee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/HIVxgI ) reported.

"She has a good relationship with her family and keeps her family apprised of what she's doing," Severson said.

Investigators have reached out-of-state family members and have contacted area hotels, bus and cab companies.

"We want to touch every base we can," Severson said at news conference.

High school officials declined to comment Thursday.

Stalbaum is 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds with long brown hair, blue eyes and braces. She may be wearing jeans, a sweatshirt and bright pink Nike tennis shoes. She may also be riding a teal Schwinn mountain bike and carrying a teal backpack.
