MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee Public Schools administrator has won first place in a weekend competition for people wanting to start new businesses.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported (http://bit.ly/1bSCxoB ) Monday that MPS volunteer services coordinator Kathleen End won the contest with an idea for Sproutr, an online service that will match students and others with volunteer opportunities.
End pitched her idea Friday, assembled a team of nine to work with over the weekend and gave her final presentation Sunday.
Contest judge Manoli Kulutbanis says End came in with "pure passion and no resources" but as the winner will now get help with her project.
Second place went to BadDates, a dating service based on the idea that people grow closer when in unusual situations.
