The Gophers freshmen class is living up to high expectations after the first month of the season. Every newbie to see ice time has scored at least one goal.

Freshman defenseman Jake Bischoff's goal in Sunday's 6-1 victory over Boston College completed the early achievement. All together the freshmen have 33 points, 12 goals of which are goal, through six games of their collegiate careers.

Justin Kloos has nine points. Hudson Fasching has eight. Taylor Cammarata has six. Michael Brodzinkski has four. Vinni Lettieri has two. Connor Reilly has two. Bischoff has two.

"We knew freshmen had to come in and contribute. There wasn't any question about that. And they've done that," coach Don Lucia said.

• Senior co-captain Nate Condon took a hard hit near the end of Sunday's game. After missing a breakaway shot attempt, he was charged by Michael Matheson and flew into the goal, then the boards.

Condon was slow to get up while Matheson was tagged with a major penalty. He played one more shift and Lucia determined that was enough. Lucia said Condon was sore after the game and the upcoming bye week should benefit his co-captain and several other banged-up Gophers.

Lucia doesn't anticipate any long-term injuries and hopes everyone is healthy for Notre Dame in two weeks.
