Now that Kira Steger’s husband has been convicted of murder, her family is ready to lay her to rest.
Steger’s funeral will be held Saturday at St. Mark’s Parish in Rothschild, Wis., according to her mother, Marcie Steger. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m., followed by the service. Steger will be buried at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Rothschild.
The 30-year-old woman’s body was recovered from the Mississippi River in May. She was last seen alive in February having dinner at the Mall of America in Bloomington with the husband she planned to divorce, Jeffery Trevino, 39. Prosecutors said Trevino killed Steger because she was having an affair and wanted to leave him.
Trevino was convicted of second-degree murder Oct. 2. His attorney has asked a judge to dismiss his conviction.
