DULUTH – The Gophers women's hockey team broke open a close game with three third-period goals and skated past Minnesota-Duluth 4-0 on Friday.

Sophomore Amanda Leveille made 26 saves in recording her second shutout of the season for the Gophers (5-0, 3-0 WCHA), who extended their NCAA-record winning streak to 54 games.

Junior Meghan Lorence scored nine seconds into the third period to give the Gophers a 2-0 lead. It was the first goal of the season for Lorence, who also had an assist on a first-period goal by senior Sarah Davis.

At 9:16 of the third period, Dani Cameranesi scored her first goal of the season to make it 3-0. Rachael Bona's team-high fifth goal of the season made it 4-0 with 5:21 remaining.

The Gophers, ranked No. 1, outshot the No. 7 Bulldogs (2-2-1, 0-2-1), 40-26.
