Thursday, Adrian Peterson was limited in practice because of a hamstring injury. Today, coach Leslie Frazier said the team held Peterson out of practice because of the hamstring injury.

Yet Frazier said he's not concerned that Peterson will miss Monday night's game against the Giants.

"No," Frazier said after practice. "I think he'll be fine with a day of rest and be ready to [practice] tomorrow."

In other news:

  • Cornerback A.J. Jefferson (ankle) didn't practice for the second straight day.

  • Frazier said the Vikings are hoping to avoid surgery for Harrison Smith's turf toe injury after placing the free safety on injured reserve with the designation to return to practice after six weeks and games after eight weeks: "We're going to take this approach and then re-evaluate it at the end of six weeks to see how he feels. There's a possibility that he won't need [surgery]. There are some guys who haven't had to do it. So we'll evaluate it when that time is up." Frazier said recovery time for this particular surgery is four to six months.
