Dispatch: Fall color report from Fort Snelling State Park

  • October 10, 2013 - 2:19 PM

“I live up the Mississippi River near Ford Parkway, over by Minnehaha Falls. It’s been fun to watch the fall colors come down the gorge, and they’ve just started turning in [Fort Snelling State Park]. We think it’s going to be a good color season, but we’re still waiting to see if we get those rich reds and oranges. I think we might. We’ve had some rain the last couple weeks. We’re dipping into more seasonal fall weather when it’s really cool at night. If we can get some bright, sunny days those colors will start to pop with beautiful purples, oranges and reds. Here at the park, I recommend Pike Island as a great little hike. You can see the colors along both the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers and pause at their confluence to take it all in.”
