Authorities on Monday identified the man who died in a motorcycle crash last week in St. Anthony.

Daniel D. Dustin, 44, was killed in the crash shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Hennepin County medical examiners' office. The office said Dustin was from Blaine, while the funeral home death notice listed his residence as being in Minneapolis.

Dustin was heading east on Kenzie Terrace near Stinson Boulevard and approaching an apartment construction area, where barricades were in place and traffic was reduced to one lane, police said. Dustin struck some of the traffic cones, went over the median's curb and crashed.

Police said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and doesn't appear to have been speeding.

It has been a particularly deadly year for riders in Minnesota. There have been at least 57 fatalities this year, according to the state Department of Public Safety. That's two more than all of last year and the most since 2008, when there were 72.

The all-time high is 121 rider fatalities in 1980.
