PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Amtrak has resumed limited Acela service to New York and Boston, but is warning of delays on both the high speed lines as well as its Northeast Regional lines.

Acela service was canceled last week after a failure in the electrical system that powers the Metro-North Railroad section of the Northeast Corridor. A temporary fix was made over the weekend.

Acela service restarted Monday, but only five trains are running daily in each direction, rather than 10.

Amtrak says it will announce service plans for Tuesday later on Monday.

Acela and regional trains stop in Providence, while regional trains stop in South Kingstown and Westerly.
