MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Film Festival plans to feature 240 films from 44 countries this year.
The 15-day festival starts Thursday with the U.S. premiere of the film "Break Up Man" from Germany as well as a party and live music.
It will also screen on Sept. 29 a documentary about the life of actress Elaine Stritch called, "Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me." The 88-year-old Tony and Emmy award winner will make an appearance afterward.
She's most recently known for her Emmy-winning role as Alec Baldwin's mother on "30 Rock."
Last year the event sold more than 50,000 tickets, a 40 percent increase over 2011.
Among the kinds of films offered are feature, children's, documentary and shorts. It will take place at three Milwaukee area cinemas.
