After 158 games and 50 series, it all comes down to this. The Twins end their 2013 campaign with four games against Cleveland while trying to help manager Ron Gardenhire win his 1,000th career game. But that’s not the only milestone within reach in this series. Jared Burton’s next appearance will be the 300th of his career. Ryan Doumit’s next home run will be his 100th. Glen Perkins needs one more save for 54 in his career, which would move him past Mike Marshall and into sole possession of eighth place on the Twins’ career list.
Cleveland comes to town trying to play keepaway with the Texas Rangers. They lead the Rangers by one game for the last AL wild card spot and could clinch a playoff spot this weekend. … Justin Masterson, 14-10 with a 3.52 ERA, will work out of the bullpen during the series but could return to the rotation in the playoffs. He’s missed most of the month because of a strained left oblique.
