Valleyfair’s summer season is over, but the park has been converted into a sprawling array of haunted mazes for the annual ValleyScare Halloween Haunt event, which started on Saturday and runs on weekends through late October.

Last week, as crews prepared for the opening, dozens of actors portraying all manner of gruesome characters were fitted for costumes and went through training and rehearsals as building crews put the finishing touches on exhibits.

The attraction includes 10 mazes, and many of the park’s rides, including most of the roller coasters, will be operating during the haunt.

For less-scary fun, the park’s Planet Snoopy area for young kids will be transformed into “Planet Spooky.”
