The skinny: In his 15th year as Iowa’s coach, Kirk Ferentz is trying to reverse a trend. The Hawkeyes’ win totals the past four seasons were 11, eight, seven and four. Mark Weisman averaged 28 carries for 142 yards through three games this year. He rushed 10 times for 43 yards Saturday against Western Michigan. The Hawkeyes built a 38-3 lead by halftime, allowing them to rest Weisman for the second half of an eventual 59-3 win.
