Five-star recruit and Gophers target Isaiah Whitehead officially committed to Seton Hall in front of a packed gym at Lincoln (N.Y.) High School on Thursday.

Whitehead, a 6-4 guard, had announced he would make his decision -- the timing of which came as a surprise -- on his Twitter account on Tuesday. St. John's, Indiana, Minnesota and Pittsburgh rounded out his short list of schools.

As is the ever-growing trend amongst elite recruits, Whitehead's announcement was made in dramatic fashion -- in front of an audience and streamed online on MSGvarsity.com.

"I would like to announce that I'll be taking my talents to Seton Hall University," he said while holding the microphone, swaying from side to side at the podium.

Syracuse, Arizona, Louisville and UCLA also had been involved but were eliminated from Whitehead's list earlier this week.

Several media members nationally have reported that Whitehead's high school coach, 'Tiny' Morton, will soon take a position as an assistant at Seton Hall, replacing current assistant Oliver Antigua.

Under the current NCAA bylaws -- specifically 13.8.3 -- this is legal, as long as it cannot be proven that Morton's potential hiring was contingent on the enrollment of Whitehead.

The Gophers are still waiting on their first commitment from a 2014 recruit.
