A man wanted in Florida after his two daughters were reported missing and thought to possibly be headed to Minnesota, was arrested in Montana early Thursday, and the girls have been located and are doing well, authorities said.
When the three were first unaccounted for, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said they may have been heading to northern Minnesota.
Edward Peters, 45, was apprehended in Sweetwater, Mont., shortly before 5 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office said. Daughters Madison, 11, and McKala, 6, “were also recovered and reported to be doing well,” the Sheriff’s Office added in a statement.
No other details were immediately released.
Madison and McKala were last seen on Sept. 8 in Inverness, Fla. At that time, Madison was wearing a pink Minnesota T-shirt. Peters was thought to be driving a vehicle that had been stolen from a Michigan campground.
Authorities say Peters took his daughters against the wishes of their court-ordered guardian.
