The man wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of a Granite Falls, Minn., woman and her boyfriend has been arrested, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Authorities said Tuesday night that Andrew Dikken, 28, was taken into custody about 3 p.m. at the Renville County Sheriff’s Office in Olivia, Minn.

Authorities said he was brought to the Sheriff’s Office by family members who have been cooperating with the investigation during the two-week search for Dikken.

Authorities had been searching for Dikken since his ex-girlfriend, 26-year-old Kara Monson, and her 28-year-old boyfriend, Chris Panitzke of Redwood Falls, were shot Sept. 2 at Monson’s home. Monson’s 5-year-old daughter was not at home during the shootings.

Dikken’s pickup truck was found two days later in a remote area about 5 miles north of Belview, Minn., and about 20 miles southeast of where Monson was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds. Panitzke was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died nearly a week later.

At first, authorities described Dikken only as a “person of interest” who was wanted for questioning. But last week, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He’s now being held in the Yellow Medicine County jail in Granite Falls.

Authorities said additional information will be released when Dikken is charged.
