What are the chances that two handsome guys, age 37 or 38, with three-day beards, irresistible charm and unstoppable humor would play the same song in the same arena on consecutive sold-out nights?
That’s what happened this week at Xcel Energy Center where, on Wednesday, retro pop star Michael Buble and, on Thursday, country superstar Blake Shelton, performed “Home,” a song that was a big hit for each of them. Buble wrote it.
As the review suggested, Shelton was like a redneck Buble. Not only was he romantic but he was hopelessly silly. He was the kind of guy who, in order to evoke his early image and years, put on a cowboy hat with a mullet sticking out of the back to sing “Some Beach.”
The playful Shelton also tweeted on the big screen (you can kiss my country ass), asked fans to hold up their cell phones for "Home" so he "see what it's like to be Taylor Swift" (she was at the X this week, too) and urged concertgoers to film special guest Danielle Bradbery, the most recent winner on "The Voice," singing "Heart of Dixie" and put it on YouTube.
Here is Shelton’s set list at the X:
All About Tonight/ The More I Drink/ Over/ Kiss My Country Ass/ She Wouldn’t Be Gone/ Mine Would Be You/ Nobody But You/ Some Beach/ Ol’ Red (originally done by George Jones)/ Who Are You When I’m Not Lookin’/ Sure Be Cool If You Did / Heart of Dixie (sung by current “The Voice” winner Danielle Bradbery) / Hillbilly Bone/ Over You (solo acoustic)/ Austin (solo acoustic)/ Drink On It/ Home/ Honey Bee/ Boys Round Here ENCORE Footloose (Kenny Loggins)/ God Gave Me You
