To compare the arrival of Al Jazeera America with the now-scrapped takeover of the Los Angeles Times by right-wing billionaires who think the current minimum wage makes people complacent because they're doing so well is ridiculous ("Maybe let's be wary of the new Al Jazeera?" Sept. 2).

I would be very upset if Al Jazeera bought, say, the Star Tribune — the major and almost only source of printed news on Minneapolis — as opposed to, say, one of five sources of local TV news. I think it is already too hard to find a news organization that does not report the same information. If Al Jazeera is too biased, I can always change the channel, but it's hard to find a new paper.
