JEMEZ SPRINGS, N.M. — The wife of a firefighter missing in northern New Mexico's Santa Fe National Forest says she's grateful for the hundreds of people who have spent days searching for her husband.

Heidi Adams on Wednesday thanked the volunteers, firefighters and search and rescue teams who have been scouring mesa tops and steep canyons east of Jemez (HAY'-muhs) in search of Token Adams.

The 41-year-old engine crew captain vanished Friday while checking on a report of smoke. He was on an ATV and failed to return to a pre-arranged meeting point with two other firefighters.

Forest Service officials say search dogs, people on horseback and National Guard helicopters were being used again Wednesday. They also say a special plane that has infrared capability to detect heat sources has been ordered.
