Former Hopkins cheerleader admits to pimping teammate

A former Hopkins High School senior pleaded guilty Friday to prostituting one of her cheerleading teammates — a 16-year-old girl whose cognitive development was behind for her age.
Montia M. Parker, 18, pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor to practice prostitution, first-degree sex trafficking of a minor and first-degree promotion of prostituting a minor.
When asked in court how she felt about her actions, Parker replied: “Guilty. Regretful. Remorseful.”
She rejected a plea deal that would have imprisoned her for three years and nine months at the least, or five years at the most.
Hennepin County District Judge William Koch set sentencing for October. State sentencing guidelines call for 7½ years in prison; the sentence could range to nine years.
Parker admitted that she posted her phone number along with photos of the girl on Backpage.com, then took the $60 that the girl made during a sex act with a man.
Parker set up another tryst, but the girl, who was 16 at the time, refused to complete the sex act.
The girl’s mother learned that someone, later identified as Parker, had helped arrange an unexcused school absence.
The mother checked her daughter’s cellphone text messages, found those related to prostitution and called police.
