Josh Willingham is apparently remaining in Minnesota for the remainder of the year. He'll have a couple of new teammates around him today, however.

The waiver deadline to trade Willingham to Baltimore, noon ET today according to a major-league source, passed without a transaction, meaning the Twins cannot trade the 34-year-old outfielder until after the season ends. Willingham had been placed on waivers early this week and, according to a report in the Baltimore Sun, claimed by the Orioles. But no trade was worked out between the two clubs in time.

The Twins were "asking way too much," Roch Kubatko, a beat writer for MASN Sports in Baltimore, reported via Twitter.

But the Twins did have a roster shakeup on Friday, putting two players on the disabled list. Samuel Deduno's shoulder soreness has become serious enough to sideline him for now, while outfielder Wilkin Ramirez fractured a bone in his left leg by fouling a pitch off his shin, the team said. Both have been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Outfielder Darin Mastroianni, who missed most of the season after breaking his foot, and lefthander Pedro Hernandez, coming back from arm problems of his own, have been recalled from the minor leagues, Mastroianni from Class AAA Rochester and Hernandez from AA New Britain. Both will join the team in Arlington, Texas, in time for tonight's game with the Rangers.

Ramirez was batting .272 with no homers and six RBIs, but had to be helped off the field Thursday after fouling a ball off his shin. The injury was diagnosed as a fractured left tibia.

Deduno told a team doctor he had been experiencing increased soreness in his shoulder earlier this month, and was removed from Thursday's start after just three innings when the pain recurred.
