(As told by dad, Bill Little)

"While fishing on Lake Minnetonka, my 8-year-old son, Squid, caught this beast! His real name is Brad Little, but he has gone by the nickname "Squid" ever since his older brothers wanted to name him "Squidward" (yes, of SpongeBob SquarePants fame) while he was still in the womb. Brad fishes Lake Minnetonka with me a couple of times a week, and we've had the 5-pound quest for as long as I can remember. Well, today was unbelievable! In addition to a 4-pound, 13-ounce monster that I caught, Squid pulled this giant from 17 feet of water. He used 10-pound fluorocarbon line and a green Yum Crawfish on a one-half ounce football head jig.''

BEGINNER'S LUCK

Monica Chit of Shakopee caught this dandy 28-inch walleye during her first outing ever at Lake Mille Lacs. She used a leech and bobber, and released the fish.
CANADA SPARK

Ethan Hoeppner, 8, of Minneapolis is an aspiring fishing guide who made his first fishing trip to Canada last month. "Now he asks to go fishing nearly every day,'' said his dad, Cory. Lake Harriet is a favorite spot, and Ethan caught this beauty there.
