A motorist struck and injured a worker in a construction zone along Interstate 694 in New Brighton at night this week, then fled the scene and has yet to be caught.

The incident occurred about 9:50 p.m. Thursday along eastbound I-694 west of the ramp to Long Lake Road, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).

The vehicle is described as a black Honda sedan, with extensive damage to the front.

The worker from Michigan-based Concrete and Breaking Co., Lewis Patch, 42, of Lakeview, Mich., was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and released Thursday, said Kent Barnard of MnDOT.
