1. CLETE WAS PRETTY NEAT IN CENTER: Clete Thomas played excellent defense during this series. He raced in to make a diving catch on Tuesday. On Thursday, he threw out Prince Fielder when he tried to turn a single into a double (why Prince decided to go for two baffled many) then made another diving catch to rob Omar Infante of a hit. Thomas has good range and a good arm and is showing both as he takes over in center for the demoted Aaron Hicks. ``Clete had a heck of a series,'' Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.

2. ALBERS SLOWS IT DOWN: Lefthander Andrew Albers got the first two outs of the sixth inning but couldn't get off the mound. The Nos. 7-8-9 hitters all reached base, and Bryan Holaday chased him from the game with a RBI single. Albers was charged with two more runs when Austin Jackson followed with a three-run homer off of Josh Roenicke. ``I thought Albers did a great job,'' Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. ``He changed speeds.moved the ball around. At the end there, they put some balls in the right places.''  Albers was at his best in the fifth when he struck out Torii Hunter with a 65-mile an hour breaking ball then got Miguel Cabrera to hit a soft liner with a 66 mph pitch. ``It's something you have to pick your spots with,'' Albers said. ``If they see it two or three times they will time it up.''

3. MINOR DETAILS: Kyle Gibson will start on Sunday for Class AAA Rochester, his first start since being shut down. Sounds like he will be handcuffed/piggybacked with Virgil Vasquez for two or three starts, then that will be the end of Gibson's season...Aaron Hicks (left wrist) will avoid the disabled list at Rochester but will miss a few games...Byron Buxton stole his 19th and 20th bases for Class A Fort Myers last night - including one on a pitchout - and now is 52-for-69 in stolen base attempts between Fort Myers and Class A Cedar Rapids.
