"Love From the Yellowstone Trail," a poetry collection by Minneapolis poet Sharon Chmielarz, has been published by North Star Press. The poems take place primarily in the Dakotas, along a section of the Yellowstone Trail and Missouri River. Some have been published in the Notre Dame Review, the Hudson Review, North Dakota Quarterly and elsewhere.

Chmielarz will read at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Hamline Midway Public Library in St. Paul with poet Ed Bok Lee, and at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis with Morgan Grayce Willow and Joyce Sutphen. Other events include 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts in Fridley, and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the University Club in St. Paul as part of the Carol Connolly Reading Series.

• "Buffalo Grass," a novel by John M. Solensten of Burnsville, has been published by North Star Press. Solensten is the author of four other novels and two story collections. His novel "Good Thunder" was the winner of the AWP Award of the Novel in 1984. He will launch his new book at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at SubText bookstore, 165 Western Av., St. Paul.

• The fourth volume of the "Books of Elsewhere" series by Red Wing author Jacqueline West has been published by Dial Books for Children. "The Strangers" continues the story of Olive Dunwoody and her mysterious haunted house.

• "The Happy Atheist," by P.Z. Myers, has been published by Pantheon. Myers is a professor of biology at the University of Minnesota-Morris and the author of the popular Pharyngula blog (freethoughtblogs.com/pharyngula).

• "Friday's Harbor," a novel by Diane Hammond, will be published in October by William Morrow. Hammond is the author of "Seeing Stars," "Hannah's Dream" and other books. She lives in St. Paul.

• "Down From Basswood: Voices of the Boundary Waters," by Lynn Laitala, illustrated by Carl Gawboy, has been republished by Border Lakes Press. Set near Ely, the book is based on interviews Laitala did collecting oral histories in the 1970s.

• "They Killed Our President: 63 Reasons to Believe There Was a Conspiracy to Assassinate JFK," by former Gov. Jesse Ventura, will be published in September by Skyhorse.
