Met Opera simulcasts this fall/winter

It's time for opera lovers to free up their Saturday afternoons, as the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts live performances from New York to moviehouses in the Twin Cities. There are 10 operas, and four new productions, on the live-cast list in the 2013-14 season. Tickets are on sale starting Aug. 21.
Most live-in-HD broadcasts take place at noon on Saturdays, with encores screened on the following Wednesday evenings. Metro-area screenings will take place in Eden Prairie, Oakdale, Rosedale, Eagan, St. Louis Park, Brooklyn Center, Elk River and Arbor Lakes.
Here's what's coming:
10/5 – Eugene Onegin LIVE – New Production. Russian soprano, international singing celebrity and Opera News cover model Anna Netrebko (pictured) and Mariusz Kwiecien star as the lovestruck Tatiana and the imperious Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s fateful romance. Fiona Shaw has stepped in to replace Deborah Warner as director. Piotr Beczala is Lenski, Onegin’s friend turned rival. Russian maestro Valery Gergiev conducts
10/9 – Eugene Onegin ENCORE
10/26 – The Nose LIVE Artist William Kentridge's put his creative touch on this production of Shostakovich’s opera, which had its inaugural run in 2010. Now Paulo Szot reprises his acclaimed performance of a bureaucrat, whose satirical misadventures in search of his missing nose are based on Gogol’s comic story. Valery Gergiev conducts.
