While major highways and freeways get most of the attention in traffic reports, commuters on the busy Minneapolis thoroughfares of Lake Street, University Avenue and 50th Street will run into lane closures and detours this week.

Here is where you will find the cones and possible delays.

University Avenue/Hwy. 47

MnDOT crews are paving University Avenue between 3rd Avenue and 27th Avenue through Wednesday. Traffic will be restricted to one side of the road and to a single lane while the work is done. On Saturday, the segment from Central Avenue to 3rd Avenue will be reduced to a single lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Note: During the work, the University Aveneu and Broadway Street intersection will be single lane traffic restriced to one side of the road while crews pave the opposite side of the roadway.

50th Street West
West 50th Street from Lyndale to Nicollet Avenue South will be closed through Friday. City of Minneapolis crews are performing a mill and overlay project. Local access is being maintained and signed detours are in place.

Lake Street
Traffic on Lake Street from Thomas Avenue to France Avenue will be affected as Hennepin County crews perform a mill and overlay project on this section of roadway. The work will last until Friday. Traffic will be maintained in both directions, but expect delays and congestion.
