The Vikings’ 15th and final training camp practice comes Wednesday. Yet Monday, to provide a slight break from the grind, head coach Leslie Frazier replaced the usual night meetings with a diversion to the Carmike Stadium Cinema.

This year’s showing: “Red 2,” starring Bruce Willis and John Malkovich. Coach’s decision.

Joked Frazier: “I’ve had some other guys pick it before. So this time I got involved.”

It’s understandable why the head coach with the wholesome values felt obligated to intervene. The 2012 camp movie: “Ted.”

“This one was much better than last year,” said cornerback Josh Robinson. “’’Ted’ wasn’t good. I’m not sure [who picked it]. But I know Coach did a little research this time. … Anytime you can step away from football for a couple hours it’s not bad.”

Added linebacker Chad Greenway: “I ordered the biggest Cherry Coke and popcorn they would serve me. I had to buy it, too. They [only] had free Gatorade and water. Thanks for that. But no, we had a good time.”

Injury update

Three Vikings missed Tuesday's practice. Defensive tackle Christian Ballard was still absent from camp, tending to what coach Leslie Frazier called "a personal issue." Cornerback Jacob Lacey will be out for 2-4 weeks and was on crutches with a knee injury. And rookie linebacker Michael Mauti, a seventh-round pick in April, was experiencing soreness in his left knee and was held out as a precaution. Mauti has had reconstructive surgery on that knee twice, most recently last November.
