A fundraising email that raised the possibility of shutting down has produced enough contributions to keep the Minnesota Majority operating, the conservative watchdog group said Monday.

"I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our grassroots supporters," said president Dan McGrath in a statement. "I'm pleased to announce that we currently have sufficient funding to meet our immediate obligations."

The group led the fight to pass a voter ID constitutional amendment last year, which was defeated at the polls. They have been active recently in fighting a child-care unionization bill.

Last week, the group sent out an email to members warning that it was in danger of shutting down without an influx of $20,000. McGrath said while the immediate financial crisis was averted, "fundraising has been falling short of goals all year and we still face the same difficulties moving forward."
